21-08-2018 Hamish is a ten year old Cairn Terrier who has come in to us from a breeder.  He is a very sweet and friendly boy, who enjoys human contact and loves to be cuddled.  Hamish has itchy skin and sore eyes at the moment which we are treating and our vet will monitor.  Hamish walks on a lead and loves his food.  Hamish is hard of hearing but does use his nose a lot to find his way around but will bump into things now and again. He has spent his entire live in kennels so will need help with house training.  He will need a quiet home with another very calm and gentle dog or dogs who he can follow and will need someone who is around most of the day.

23-09-18 UPDATE
We collected Hamish a week ago, and what a surprising and brave little doggie he is. Let me concentrate on what he can do.  In one week he has managed to find his way around the house which is a bungalow.  I watch over him in the garden which he loves and has managed to find his own way back into the house, by using his scent as a guide.
He loves his food, he also likes ours so has to be watched because his cute little black nose is a wonder - he can smell anything homing right in!  He likes a cup of tea along with my dogs and gives out kisses.
His right eye has improved a little with using his drops and he had the other removed by MT before he arrived in foster and the stitches were removed on Friday.
If I want him to come with me, I put my hand on his nose and he then follows me around.  Hamish loves us all and will come and sit with us and likes best to go to sleep on the sofa at the side of us so he can feel you are there.  He cries if he does not know where he or we are so we rescue him immediatly.
He is clean in the house night and day but of course you must make sure to take him out.  Right now, he is sat at my feet, touching my leg just to know where I am and a few days ago some thing wonderful happened.  Iif we hold a soft toy to his mouth, he plays with it having a tug of war with us!  He loves to play having a tummy stroke too.
He is also deaf and again I do not know how much but he can hear a loud clap at the back of his head. So you now know what he can do, what can you do for him, well he needs a very kind person that can manage his special needs, who is home most of the time, no small children a garden to pootle around in, another small kind dog which gets on well and who he can follow and be company, people that can love him and give him a soft bed and a knee to sleep on, and most of all keep him safe.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

Although HAMISH is by donation rather than the full adoption fee, we ask for a minimum donation of £100 to help cover the costs that have been incurred. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
